We have noticed there is a very high amount of daytime running light/highbeam bulbs overheating and melting the lens from the inside. Does your headlight have a white spot on the lens? Do your day time running light bulbs look black and bulging?
In an effort to repair this problem, we are attempting to report the numerous lenses that have been affected by this problem to Toyota. Toyota has a technical service bulletin listed ( #T-SB-0036-08 ) stating that headlight lenses have been experiencing" discoloration"; however, these lenses are actually melting due to the bulb overheating. M n J's believes that this is not only a manufacturing defect, but also a huge safety hazard. In the event that someone leans on or touches the lens, the heat produced by the overheating bulb could badly burn them. Toyota is doing nothing to help this problem. We think that the more people who report this problem to Toyota, the sooner Toyota will realize they have a problem. Toyota customer service # 1-800-331-4331

If you received MnJ's information about this problem on your vehical's windshield, this means we have recognized your vehical to have this problem. If your lenses are not yet melted, we recommend replacing the daytime running bulbs with a bulb other than the original HB3 Koito bulb. We can replace your bulbs and or lenses at a very competitive price in addition to following up with Toyota.
Call Miguel, if you believe you have this problem or have any questions.
This is a lens on a 2004 Toyota Highlander that has been melted by the overheating of the original daytime running light bulb.
On the right side of the lens you can see a white, somewhat round spot. This is not a discoloration of the lens, it is actually melted and unrepairable.
This is what your bulb may look like. If it does, your lens may end up looking like the lens to the left, or even worse!
We do not understand why Toyota has not recalled these bulbs/lenses, but we are diligently trying to fix this problem.
